Technical Exchange with Comrat: LWG Visits Moldova for the Second Time

From 16 to 19 June 2025, colleagues from LWG travelled to Comrat for the second time to work on technical topics including water loss, the wastewater pumping station, and occupational safety.

Comrat is a city of over 30,000 inhabitants in the south of the Republic of Moldova. Since 2024, LWG has maintained a close operator partnership with the local utility company SU Canal Comrat, with the aim of sharing expertise and jointly tackling water management challenges. Four colleagues from LWG took part in this technical exchange in Comrat.

After a warm welcome by the mayor, this visit focused on several technical priorities: measures to reduce water losses, the construction and maintenance of wastewater pumping stations, and an in-depth exchange on health and safety standards.

The exchange also had a practical component: among other things, participants visited the construction site of a new wastewater treatment plant in Cahul and large-scale sewer infrastructure works serving entire city districts.

The partnership is currently set to run until 2027. During the next visit in October, the focus will be on water loss detection, including hands-on activities. For the first time, commercial staff from LWG are also expected to join and contribute their technical expertise on site.
