Successful international cooperation within the framework of operator partnerships is only possible with mutual understanding and cultural sensitivity. We are therefore delighted to have conducted two effective intercultural training courses this summer with the aim of strengthening cooperation between our international and German partners in the long term.
“Germany at a Glance:” A global perspective
On 19 May 2025, international operators from Ukraine, Zambia and Moldova took part in the online training course “Germany at a Glance”. The aim of the training was to deepen intercultural understanding and thereby provide targeted support to participants in their cooperation with German partners.
Under the guidance of intercultural trainer Astrid Gerhard-Kraemer, participants learned about key aspects of German communication culture and working practices in a dynamic and engaging session. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive: the group left the training session with renewed energy, motivation and valuable knowledge that will facilitate intercultural exchange.

A particular highlight was the formulation of individual communication goals. All participants developed personal resolutions to improve cooperation. This is a practical approach that enables long-term development. To promote the sustainability of the training, a two-hour follow-up session was held on 27 June. Here, participants shared their successes in implementing their new communication goals in their dealings with their German partners.
“Cooperation Beyond Cultural Boundaries”: Focus on our German partners
Just a few weeks later, on 23 June 2025, the focus shifted to the perspective of our German partners. German partners of the Utility Platform took part in the online training course “Cooperation Beyond Cultural Boundaries”.

Together with moderator Astrid Gerhard-Kraemer, participants addressed key issues in international cooperation, including how German communication and working styles are perceived by international partners, managing expectations, building mutual understanding, and the factors that contribute to successful online collaboration.
Through group work, role-playing and practical methods, real challenges were addressed and worked on together. Topics such as power relations and cultural differences were also discussed. The interactive structure of the workshop encouraged reflection and lively discussions. At the end of the training, the participants were inspired and motivated to consciously develop their intercultural cooperation further. In September, there will also be a follow-up session for this training, during which participants will deepen their knowledge and report on how the training has influenced their work with their partners.
