Zweckverband Wasserversorgung Trollmühle

The Zweckverband Wasserversorgung Trollmühle (ZWT), based in Windesheim, Germany, provides drinking water to approximately 43,000 residents. The supply area is located in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, within the districts of Bad Kreuznach and Mainz-Bingen. The association's members include the municipal administrations (Verbandsgemeinden) of Langenlonsheim-Stromberg, Rüdesheim, Rhein-Nahe, and the town of Bingen. Currently, around 35 people are employed by the association. All activities, from planning and pipeline construction to operations and administration, are carried out under one roof.

Teplovodservice

Teplovodservice is a municipal utility company, established in 2023 through the merger of the heat and water utilities of Myrhorod. The company operates in various sectors of energy and water supply, including drinking water provision and wastewater disposal. Teplovodservice supplies around 45,000 residents in the city of Myrhorod, the municipality of Myrhorod, and the village of Velyka Bahachka. Myrhorod is a city in the central Ukrainian Poltava Oblast, situated on the banks of the Khorol River, and serves as the administrative centre of the Myrhorod district.

The project

This operator partnership builds upon the town twinning arrangement established in 2022 between the municipality of Langenlonsheim-Stromberg and the town of Myrhorod. In parallel, the Zweckverband Wasserversorgung Trollmühle already maintains close cooperation with neighbouring water suppliers of Teplovodservice. Within this framework, joint measures are planned and implemented, and procurement activities are coordinated to improve cost-effectiveness.

Work packages of the Partnership

During the joint kick-off meeting, the partners identified key thematic areas to be addressed in depth over the course of the partnership.

Mutual exchange of expertise on key issues

A central component of the partnership is the professional exchange on practical challenges. The main topics include:

  • Pipeline renewal
  • Reduction of water loss
  • Crisis management
  • Energy efficiency
  • Impacts of climate change
  • Recruitment and retention of skilled workers

These topics will be further developed and deepened as the partnership progresses.

Expansion of process control technology

Another key focus is the development and expansion of process control technology. A specialist planner is to be involved to carry out a comprehensive site analysis and develop concrete proposals for optimising and expanding control systems in collaboration with the partner.

Procurement of equipment and resources

The joint procurement of essential equipment and materials forms another core work package. The focus here lies particularly on equipment aimed at reducing water losses and ensuring and monitoring water quality.
