The project
The background of the project is the establishment of a solidarity partnership between the Zhytomyrvodokanal and the Emschergenossenschaft / Lippeverband. Due to the current war situation in Ukraine, the focus is on the procurement of necessary technical equipment. In particular, the energy and water supply is repeatedly interrupted in many Ukrainian cities. The country needs a lot of support to restore these central elements of public services. This support is to be provided through a partnership between Emschergenossenschaft and Zhytomyrvodokanal on several levels.
Objectives
The objectives are, on the one hand, the exchange of know-how and experience on various topics in water management and, on the other hand, the procurement of necessary material goods for the partner Zhytomyrvodokanal in Ukraine.
A regular exchange between the two operators is planned. The exchange is to cover various topics such as the optimization of sewage treatment plant operation, the maintenance of sewers and sewage treatment plants and the initial operation of new sewage treatment plants.
Cooperation
The exchange of expertise will take place online and may be supplemented by face-to-face meetings in the form of mutual visits by the persons involved in the project, if necessary. This exchange is intended to help operators support each other in carrying out operations more safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.
The Emschergenossenschaft organises the procurement of necessary technical equipment and the subsequent transport to Ukraine. As soon as the material goods have arrived and been handed over in Ukraine, they can be used to maintain the drinking water supply and wastewater disposal systems and thus support the local people.
