Background
The solidarity operator partnership between ZBL and Irpinvodokanal has been in place since summer 2023. It complements the long-standing town twinning between Borna and Irpin, in which ZBL’s managing director, Simone Luedtke, is heavily involved.
Already in the pilot phase of the partnership, urgently needed technical equipment and materials for restoring the drinking water supply, including drinking water and wastewater pumps, were procured and transported to Ukraine.
Procurement of essential equipment
Irpinvodokanal sent its German partners a detailed overview of its needs for the continuation of the partnership. Due to Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine, regional infrastructure has been severely damaged in many areas, so the focus remains on procuring essential goods.
The current procurement round was successfully completed in November 2025. The following items were delivered to Irpin:
- Block pump (waste water), capacity 1200 m³/h, H-60 m
- Control cabinet
Irpinvodokanal expresses its sincere gratitude to ZBL for its ongoing support. The modern equipment contributes significantly to ensuring stable wastewater operations, increases the reliability of the local infrastructure, and guarantees an uninterrupted supply to the residents of the municipality.
Video impression
Irpinvodokanal posted a video of the delivered equipment on Facebook to thank ZBL and inform the local population about the ongoing support from Germany.
